Dreamville is Malaysia-based MMORPG producer Terra ICT's "social gaming" product. Combining the real-time interactive qualities of virtual worlds with social networking features of sites like Cyworld, Dreamville's "Theme Park" is just one part of a larger Dreamville site which includes blogs, photo sharing, and customizable homepages known as "hompy" (slang for "home page").
The free registration provides a basic avatar and a home page, but additional clothing and accessory items must acquired with e-Games Points (eP), which can be purchased through the "Top-Up" feature with a credit card. (Malaysian players can also purchase eP Cards at various cybercafes in Kuala Lumpur.)
In the Theme Park, users are given two pieces of property to customize: a room and a field. Rooms and fields can be decorated with furniture and other items with Game Money (GM), not to be confused with eP.
Dreamville's site has usability issues that may be discouraging to new users. The use of two types of currencies (eP and GM) is confusing and the site's navigation is not very intuitive. However, the Theme Park rooms and catalog items are wonderfully charming and expressive. The Dreamville site is an interesting blend of several online community features and a worthwhile journey for those willing to spend time navigating through it.
